Full Statement: LESBIAN VISIBILITY DAY 2023

This year, 2023, we celebrate 20 years of visibility and existence despite the fact that the recently passed Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023 continues to be a force that restricts Lesbian womxn’s ability to express, live authentic lives as well as access essential services. This bill has fueled and increased series of violations against LBQ womxn; sexual harassments corrective rape,  loss of livelihoods and displacement, online violence and blackmails against LBQ womxn and communities. Considering all this, the bill also has impelling implications for organizations serving and working with the LBQ womxn which is clear barrier to the global attainment of SDG5.
