Today, Freedom and Roam Uganda (FARUG) joins the global community in celebrating Lesbian Visibility Day. As the first and longest standing organization dedicated to LBQ womxn in Uganda, we stand in bold recognition of the courage, diversity, and unwavering spirit of lesbian, bisexual, and queer women across our nation and the continent.
This year, our celebration is cantered on the theme: “Health, Wellbeing, and the Right to Thrive.” In a landscape where our very existence is often met with legislative hostility, visibility is more than a gesture it is a lifeline. It is about the right to exist safely, to access non-discriminatory healthcare, and to protect our mental health in a climate of state-sanctioned erasure.
