A Time for Reflection and Forward Momentum

Welcome to the November edition of our monthly article. As the days grow shorter and the year begins its final descent, November traditionally invites us to pause, reflect on the milestones achieved, and express gratitude for the progress we have made together. In this issue, we spotlight our recent initiatives, specifically the 16 Days of Activism campaign to end violence against women and girls and the continued mental health psychosocial support through our bi monthly virtual wellness safe spaces.

Womxn’s Virtual Bi-Monthly Wellness Engagement: Reflective November

As part of FARUG’s ongoing commitment to holistic psychosocial and mental health services, we hosted a virtual safe space designed to cultivate well-being and self-care among our members. The session provided a vital platform for womxn to share personal updates and expressions of gratitude. Members discussed their journeys of personal growth throughout the year, highlighting the power of vulnerability and community in the healing process. Key Themes of Resilience, Self-Reflection: Navigating internal growth, Boundary Setting: Protecting our peace and energy, Forgiveness: Healing from within, Support Systems: Reaffirming the importance of leaning on chosen family and community networks. The engagement concluded with a call to action regarding the 16 Days of Activism. This year, our focus turned toward digital violence, inviting members to advocate for online safety and craft messages of solidarity to counter online harassment.

16 Days of Activism: UNITE to End Digital Violence

Recently, we have seen a serious and rapidly growing threat that seeks to silence the voices of many women especially those from diverse communities and those with a strong public presence in politics, activism, and journalism. FARUG joined the global movement for the 16 Days of Activism, which commenced on 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and runs through 10 December (International Human Rights Defenders Day). In alignment with this year’s theme UNITE: End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls, we focused on raising awareness through educating our community on how online abuse manifests, shared tools by providing practical resources for digital safety and promoting respect by encouraging actions that create safer, more respectful online environments.
