This article reflects on the significance of April as a month of awareness, visibility, and advocacy. It explored the intersections of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Stress Awareness Month, highlighting the mental health impact of trauma and the importance of community support. We also took the opportunity to honor the Lesbian Visibility Week and Day, as well as celebrating the power of sisterhood, resilience, activism, and contributions of lesbian, bisexual, and queer women as we continue to thrive in the eyes of the rhetoric challenges globally.

Bi monthly Virtual Wellness Engagement; Healing April

In honor of Stress Awareness Month, the Bi monthly Virtual wellness engagement, was to create a supportive and inclusive virtual environment where LBQ womxn and the counsellor could address stress, share experiences, and access resources that affirm their identities, promote mental health, and foster community care. The virtual space also offered a safe, affirming space for the LBQ womxn to pause, connect, and care for their mental and emotional well-being and through guided discussions, wellness practices, and community sharing, participants also explored the unique stressors faced by LBQ womxn, especially those at the intersections of sexuality and gender identity, gaining tools for resilience, rest, and collective healing.

Ba Queer Twogere; Sexual Assault Awareness Month, The Role of Media in Shaping the perceptions towards Sexual Assault.

As we observed the Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we utilized the podcast to critically engage with the role of media in shaping narratives around sexual assault and reproductive justice, amplify LBQ womxn perspectives, and advocate for media that supports informed, compassionate, and justice-driven conversations about SRHR and sexual violence. In this special episode, we examined how media shapes and often distorts the narratives around sexual violence, SRHR, and reproductive justice. Featuring voices from the LBQ womxn community, the discussion explored the power of storytelling, the role of media in influencing public perception and policy, and the urgent need for more accurate, inclusive, and survivor centered representations. The discussion further unpacked how media can either reinforce harmful stigmas or serve as a tool for awareness, healing, and transformative justice especially for communities at the margins. Link

Celebrating the Power of Sisterhood; Lesbian Visibility Day

As we observed the Lesbian Visibility Week that runs from 21 to 27th April, is a significant moment for the LBQ womxn community, as a way to uplift and celebrate the power of Sisterhood, Link for the statement. Β Through the podcast, we aimed to increasing visibility of lesbian womxn within SRHR and reproductive justice movements, educate listeners on the intersectional challenges they face, and advocate for inclusive, rights-based approaches that honor all bodies and identities. This episode centered lesbian voices within the broader conversations on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Reproductive Justice. We challenged the assumptions that often exclude lesbian womxn from reproductive health narratives, and we spotlighted the unique barriers LBQ womxn face in accessing inclusive, affirming care.
