MAKEWAY PROGRAM; Virtual Validation Meeting on Analysis Report on the impact of the Anti-Homosexual Law23 on Access to SRHR services of womxn.
The Make way Programs continues to break barriers through the use of an intersectional lens, embracing intersectionality, Through Research and Documentation, following last year’s inception on the Research Analysis on the impact of the AHA, we concluded the analysis, identifying how policies and laws such as the AHA2023 influenced accessibility of SRHR services for LBQ womxn in Uganda, some of the key findings from the analysis report, indicted critical SRHR needs and issues experienced by LBQ womxn such as the need for cervical cancer screening, access to Post Abortion care and information, fertility services and health consumables etc. this process involved womxn community, representatives, from across CSOs and Allies as well as health care providers.
LAUNCH; REPORT ANALYSIS; Unpacking the Current SRHR trends for LBQ womxn in Uganda
As a way of popularizing the Report Analysis, the X Space, fostered discussions on unpacking the status of SRHR for LBQ womxn in Uganda, stating some of the key findings from the Report Analysis on the impact of the AHA23 on the SRHR accessibility of womxn in Uganda. The X space also Highlighted the Impact of the US Funding Retreat/Freeze aid on the SRHR. Read more of our Report Analysis.
WOMXN SRHR CAMP; Fibroid Screening
We continue to foster connection and a sense of community among the LBQ womxn through promoting solidarity and social support. The camp created a safe and non-judgmental space for LBQ womxn, reducing stigma, discrimination in accessibility of specific services. The camp inspired community empowering LBQ womxn to take ownership of their health and wellbeing.
MPOX AWARENESS FOR LBQ WOMXN
As we looked forth into celebrating the progress and achievements in advancing gender equality and advancing women empowerment, we acknowledged Health and wellbeing as a key element by promoting accessibility to healthcare and information in affirming and non-discriminatory environments, and as one of the key areas for womxn in making informed decisions about their health. Monkey Pox, on the other also known as Mpox, continues to be a threat, declared as an outbreak and a current health emergency, therefore its crucial for everyone, including womxn in Uganda.
The safe space convened fostered discussions, highlighting accurate and culturally sensitive information about MPox, its transmission, symptoms, prevention and treatment as well address systematic barriers and biases that womxn face in accessing healthcare as well as promoting women’s economic empowerment and education which are critical for achieving good health outcomes. #MpoxAwareness #Protectyourself #Staysafe #QueeringSRHR
