1. Who is a Transgender?
2. What is being a Transgender?
3. Who is a Lesbian Transgender?
The above questions are being asked in form of a discussion.
So many people identify as Transgender in different ways and not all transgender people are lesbians. This brings us to the definition;
A Transgender is a person who behaves and dresses differently from his/ her biological gender identity and possesses the characteristics of the opposite sex/gender.
IDENTIFICATION OF TRANSGENDER
A Trans-gender can be identified from the way he / she behaves and dresses for example a biological man dressing and behaving like a woman and vice versa.
Sometimes Trans-gender people get into trouble by other mistaking them for what they are not. This is very common in Trans-gender women who have male characteristics and are not lesbian. Girls who play football for example tend to dress like their male counterparts and behave just like them and people think that all are lesbians which is not true.
The truth is that 78% of Trans-gender females are lesbians. This means that 22% are just Trans-gender by their physical identity and not what we think.
Most of the Trans-gender people have been in one way or another inspired by something or somebody to be a Trans-gender. Most females, who are Trans-genders usually grew up in a male dominated community and males usually grew up in a female dominated community so they tend to copy what they see and end up being Trans-gender.
A TRANS-GENDER LESBIAN
Who is a Transgender Lesbian?
Here for one to be a transgender lesbian one has to be a lesbian and a transgender at the same time. A lesbian is a female who has feelings for a fellow female. A combination of a lesbian and Trans-gender make one a Trans-gender lesbian.
A Trans-gender lesbian behaves more of a male than the female and he takes himself as the male partner in the relationship. Most of the Trans-gender lesbians adopt male names to be addressed with or they like being addressed by the “HE” and they feel humiliated when they are addressed as “SHE”.
Most of the lesbians I have met behave like they are biological male though they are biologically female and they like it that way.
In an interview I had with a Trans-gender lesbian, she said she would rather be called “HE” and feels insulted when referred to as she. He also said if possible, he would get rid of his breasts but leave his vagina because he likes his biological identity, but hates his physical identity. The only thing else he would want to remove from his body is the uterus and he stops menstruating, because he is not going to have children of his own apart from the ones him and his wife are going to have through her.
Many trans-gender lesbians say they would get rid of their breasts but the only big problem arises when the side effects of the surgery surface or the side effects of the hormones and medication.
Sometimes the Trans-gender lesbians do not suite in the community they live in, because of the morals of the community. They feel dejected and rejected because they are not accepted the way they are.
There are so many problems that the Trans-gender lesbians face in the community and some of them end up isolating themselves from the rest.
Being a Trans-gender is being viewed in a heterosexual way as an abomination and a taboo. So most of the Trans-gender lesbians are rejected by their families and relatives citing moral degeneration and culture taboos as the main reasons.
Some Trans-genders are now left to compromise for certain things that they need in life. Friends of the Trans-gender people who are heterosexuals usually fear being seen with their Trans-gender lesbian friends, because of what other people think about them and what they say.
Trans-gender lesbians usually get so much trouble when it comes to getting jobs and maintaining them in an office which is homophobic. They may have the qualification required but because of what they are, they cannot be employed and they are left in despair for whatever comes up that they can do to sustain themselves.
Some of the Trans-gender lesbians find it hard to corp. with the schools rules and regulations where girls are to wear skirts and not trousers as they are used to.
These are just some of the problems that the Trans-gender lesbians face but there more that are not mentioned here.
